Located in the Tuscan Maremma, in the Comune di Magliano (Grosseto), Doga delle Clavule is Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini's most recent purchase and her group's newest estate. Its name is closely tied to the area where it is located. Indeed, in the local dialect the word “doga” means creek, whereas “clavule” derives from Latin and means rooted vine cutting. The estate is located in the heart of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG and Vermentino IGT production areas and extends over 130 hectares, around the creek its. When the estate was purchased in 2000 there were no vineyards, though the area boasts considerable archaeological evidence for the cultivation of the vine since Etruscan times.
